Glitter and Sparkles

Today we read, "The Rainbow Fish."
Great lesson on sharing and feeling good about yourself and making others feel good!
Then they colored and glittered their own Rainbow Fish.

We talked about how some ornaments sparkle and how they make the tree
look pretty. Then  we did three ornament activities.

                                               1. Matched the ornaments to the correct group

                                          2. Used different markers to make matches

                                     3. Decorated ornaments for our handprint Christmas tree

We practiced making patterns with blocks and then
used red and green macaroni to create AAB patterns.

We were so happy that Emma and Ms. Renee could join
                                       us today. :)

SC went to sleep first so workbooks, practice cutting
                                               and games for the afternoon.

oops - one out of order!

Lights and things that are Bright!

Happy Monday! I can't even believe how crazy it is that the three of us think alike.
The theme for this week is Lights and things that are Bright -which includes, stars. You both
dressed your girls in shirts with stars - very cool!! Worked well into our lesson today.

They took turns pulling different light sources out of a Christmas
tin and we talked about the kind of light it is and what it is used for.
Then they made their own candle and we sang, "This little light of mine."

I lit a candle before we began and we would check it every so often to
watch the heat melt the wax. Then we sequenced it.

                                                                   Snack!!!!

                                                                   Brooke tracing some stars.

Putting stars in order from smallest to largest.

The kids chose some stars and then had to count how many they had.

Sang Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and found the letter i/I in the poem.

This is one of my favorite books to read at Christmas time. We talked
about the animals in the book and how they prepared the barn for Mary and
Joseph. We also talked about how the star helped the shepherds and others
find their way to Jesus. They colored a Nativity scene as well.

I put SC down and A, B and B worked in their alphabet workbooks.

And finally, a game of Candyland before nap.
