Hey, Diddle, Diddle!

Nursery Rhymes for today:
Hey, Diddle, Diddle and Little Boy Blue

1. We worked on patterns and matching in their journals.
2. Talked about what a fiddle is and made a pretend one. I don't have a fiddle but brought out a guitar to show them the strings and let them pluck them to make sounds.
3. We did a cow jumping over the moon activity.
4. We learned about Little Boy Blue and made him.
5. Ben and Brooke wanted to put a little show on for us between activities.
6. I put up the Hey, Diddle, Diddle rhyme and left out words. I had the kids take turns finding the word/picture that belonged in the box. They had to think about beginning sounds.
7. After SC went down, they practiced in their workbooks- dot to dot and handwriting.

Crafty kids

The girls played with dolls this morning and we did a few crafts. We started on Valentine's surprises and then used different things to make their names.

Baa Baa

Today we focused on three nursery rhymes that have sheep.
1. Calendar time and word work - today we did letter sort and flashcards
2. They glued "Mary Had A Little Lamb" in their journals and then had to find the word lamb.
3. We talked about sheep, names, uses, where they live, etc. I let them touch a wool sweater and yarn.
4. I traced their hands and they created a sheep, using their handprint as the legs.
5. We played Little Bo Peep and seek. Each child took a turn to hide and then they had to say, baa baa while the other three had to find them.
6. Reviews numbers 1-12 and practiced counting with blocks.
7. Made a sheep out of cotton balls and had to count how many they used.
8. We sang Baa Baa Black Sheep and then made a black sheep. The big kids made a book about it after SC went down for her nap.
9. Dot to dot sheep and handwriting practice
