What a fun day discussing and learning about zoo animals!
After calendar, they had to count the number of bananas that they monkey needed.
We brainstormed a list of zoo animals. (My drawings are sad!!!)
We read a poem called, "At the Zoo," then they had to match the picture to the beginning sound.
They sorted animal crackers and then had to put the group by the number. I did an example and then they did one on their own.
From there, they chose 5 animal crackers to create a picture and they ate the ones they didn't use. Their handprints are the trees.
We played "Zookeeper." We went over the animals that we had. Each child took a turn hiding while we hid one of the animals. The "zookeeper" had to come back and find which animal was missing from the zoo.
They each colored a giraffe and then used their thumbprints to make the spots.
They made lions out of their handprints.
Their art work being displayed.....
The last activity had several steps:
1. I held up an letter card and they had to see if one of the animals started with that letter. If it did, then they put the letter next to the animal.
3. Finally, they had to choose an animal, look at the word card that was next to it and then match it to the place in the zoo. Then they got to glue their animals down.
